General Description
The Corporation was established to regulate and maintain the supply of Electricity & Water to customers in the State of Qatar.
Kahramaa was mandated with several responsibilities and commitments, some of which are:
The right to own, construct, operate and maintain electricity generation stations, water desalination plants, electricity transmission and water distribution networks.
Creating development plans and programmes for stations and their networks and laying down regulations, standards and codes of practices pertaining to the provision of electricity and water supplies to various buildings, locations and establishments as well as reviewing their implementations.
Suggesting the standards and specifications for the material used in water and electric equipment.
Providing consultancy and services related to its operations.
History
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) was established on 21 July 2000, in accordance with the Law No. 10.

Total capital of eight billion Qatari Riyals.
