The European and American Affairs Department performs the following functions:
1.To promote and develop bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and European and American countries in political, economic, cultural, technical and other domains as well as monitor developments in these countries.
2. To study analyze and assess reports from Qatari diplomatic missions in European and American countries and state opinion on them.
3. To study and follow up issues and reports referred to it on conditions and developments in Arab countries as well as relations between the State of Qatar and European and American countries.
4. To monitor the State of Qatar′s relations with the European Union, collate information and give opinion on these relations.
5. To follow up and direct Qatari diplomatic missions′ activities in European and American countries.
6.To coordinate, monitor and develop relations with European and American countries′ diplomatic missions in Qatar.
7.To monitor and assess reports published in the European and American press with which the State of Qatar is concerned as well as analyze, assess and state opinion on needed procedures or recommendations thereto, in cooperation with MOFA Information and Research Department.
8.To monitor and study bulletins and other publications issued by European and American countries′ missions in Qatar and state views and comments on them.
9.To coordinate with European and American regional organizations and competent authorities in Qatar on issues referred to it on developing cooperation with such organizations, in coordination with MOFA International Organizations and Conferences Department.
10.To prepare reports for works of joint committees with European and American countries, take part in them and follow up decisions passed by them.
11.To draft agreements with European and American countries, in coordination with MOFA Legal Department.
12.To report regularly on the State of Qatar′s relations with European and American countries and prepare reports on these relations.
13.To prepare, follow up and coordinate visits by high-ranking official delegations from Qatar to European and American countries and prepare reports on such visits.
14.To prepare, follow up and coordinate visits to Qatar by high-ranking official delegations from European and American countries and prepare reports on such visits.
15.To report regularly on Qatari diplomatic activities in European and American countries.
