The Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Ltd. (Borouge) was established to manufacture and sell Polyethylene for use in technically demanding applications primarily in the flexible and rigid packaging and construction industries.
To achieve its business goal, Borouge is currently building its new petrochemical complex in Ruwais. The 260-hectare complex, one of the largest and most advanced polyethylene facilities in the Middle East, is due to be completed by late 2001. It will produce 450,000 tons of high and linear low-density polyethylene per year.
The complex will comprise a 600,000-ton Ethane-based Ethylene cracker and two Polyethylene plants, each with an annual production capacity of 225,000 tons of linear high, medium and low-density polyethylene.
BOROUGE was incorporated in 1997.
Borouge is a joint venture owned by ADNOC & Borealis, Europe’s leading producer of polyolefins.
