General Description
Program Objectives:

Acquaint the student with a varied range of historical knowledge with concentration on the history of the region and of the Arab-Islamic Civilization.
Develop well-educated nationals who are conscious of their own past and who know their place in the world. This is accomplished through familiarizing them with the experiences and conditions of their society, its culture and the cultures of other societies.
Prepare a generation of scholars and researches who will measure up to the requirements of academic and practical life in a university and in the Emirates Society so as to build a present and future society of true excellence.
Participate in the preparation of generation of teachers educationally and professionally qualified to undertake the functions and duties of instruction at all levels of school education.
Instill in the more outstanding students a certain elan for historical research and initiative so as to create a nucleus of "homegrown" university teaching staff capable of shouldering the responsibilities of higher-lever collegiate studies.
