The goal of the Biology Department is to graduate competent students in general biology, molecular cellular biology, or environmental sciences. The student, upon admission, chooses one of these tracks to pursue his educational goals, however, the inherent nature of these programs allows the student to maintain the interdisciplinary competency. Graduates of the Biology Department may pursue employment in various sectors such as education, research pharmaceutical establishments, diagnostic laboratories, ecological establishments, and food industry. The Biology Department strives to develop state-of-art research in various fields including molecular and cell biology, ecology, physiology, and marine biology. The proper teaching curriculum and research trends build the infrastructure for further graduate studies. The prospective biology student must, however, complete the core courses for a total 24 and 25 hours from each track. Furthermore the student must fulfill ancillary compulsory courses, which complements the other courses.
