The UAE Contractors′ Association is one of the most prominent organisations in the country. It shoulders a major part of the responsibility in every field of construction.

Locally, membership of the UAE Contractors′ Association increased to include the major contracting companies in the country.

In addition, the Association publishes Contractors′ News, an Arabic-English magazine specialised in construction subjects. Publishes numerous memoranda and circulars on activities of interest to the sector. Organises specialised exhibitions and related symposia and conferences. Defends the legal rights of its members, within the law of the land as set out in the articles of association. Provides expert opinion to the courts of law, as and when requested, to assist them in the resolution of commercial and/or technical disputes.

On the external front, the Association has been able to strengthen relations between itself (on behalf of the UAE construction industry) and international organisations working in the same field.

The Association has wide-ranging and continuous contacts with the unions and associations concerned with building and construction in numerous parts of the Arab and Islamic world. It is a member of the Federation of Arab Contractors and Federation of Islamic Contractors.

At the international level, the Association has made sure to join the establishments and organisations concerned with contracting, building and construction.

The Association operated as the General Secretariat of the World Organisation of Building Officials (WOBO) from 1993-1996, a UN-affiliated organisation of building officials from all over the world.

The UAECA has been able to register several achievements since its inception in September 1985. It has cooperated with municipalities and professional bodies to assist in continuing task of developing a building and safety code for the UAE construction industry. This function is executed through the UCA′s Technical Consultative Committee.
The UCA has placed the UAE in the focus of the international building officials′ community by the virtue of its prominent membership of the World Organization of Building Officials (WOBO), an affiliate body of the United Nations. At present, the UCA′s chairman is also the president of WOBO.

The UCA is also an institutional member of the Federation of Arab Contractors and the Federation of Islamic Contractors.

The UCA has signed protocols of cooperation with its counterparts in several countries including China, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Canada, the UK and the USA. These protocols assist in flow of market and technical information between the UAE and the respective country for the benefit of industry on both the sides.

The UCA serves as the Middle Eastern office of the International Marine office of the International Marine Contractors Association which aims at improving safety standards in underwater projects.

In addition to the protocols of cooperation, the UCA also receives delegation from construction industries in other countries as well as send its own delegations abroad for the purpose of enhancing international cooperation in UAE construction industry.

The UAE Contractors′ Association (UAECA) was established in 1985 under a decree from the UAE Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Today, the Association has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and is a member of the UN-affiliated World Organisation of Building Officials (WOBO), the Arab League-affiliated Federation of Arab Contractors, and the Federation of Islamic Contractors.
