Mission and objectives:
NVRSRP is a regional outreach programme of the International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) to strengthen the cooperation between countries in the Nile Valley and Red Sea countries (Eritrea and Yemen). NVRSRP′S main objective is to improve the production of cool-season legumes (lentil, chickpea and lava bean) and cereals (wheat and barley) and to ensure the sustainability of production systems in different agro-ecological zones. This is to be attained by the development and transfer of improved production technology to farmers in Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan and Yemen.
