General Description
The Egyptian Center for Women′s Rights is a Cairo-based independent
non-governmental organization established in April 1996.
The Center carries out programs and projects at the level of women′s leadership and at the grassroots level, which aim to improve the political and social status of women and confront all forms of discrimination against them.
Through its programs the center helps enable women to obtain their rights through legal channels, raise their awareness and familiarize them with their legal rights, offer legal and family counseling and consultancy as well as monitoring the violations inflicted on women. The center also carries out programs that encourage and empower women to participate in political life through different means, for example by registering their names and voting, or running for elections.
