General Description
The Tasks of The Royal Naval Forces are:
1- To implement the jordanian law within the jordanian territorial water & to assume control of these water.
2- Patrolling the territorial water.
3- To carry out search & rescue within the jordanian territorial water.
4- To provide Coastal defense for the jordanian Coast.
5- To implement the laws of preventing pollution of the Aqaba Beach in coordination with the Aqaba Port Authority.
6- To provide Escort to The Royal Yachts & Sea.
History
The Royal Naval Force was established in 1951 as The Royal Coast Guard. It was established in Aqaba. In 1952 The Coast Guard HQ was moved to The Dead Sea area and remained there until 1967.
On 13 november 1991 The Royal Coast Guard was renamed as The Royal Naval Forces.
