General Description
The Syrian Young Entrepreneurs Association is a non-government, non-profit organization that strives to inspire outstanding entrepreneurial mindset and skills in the promising youth of Syria, enhancing their professional and personal competence in the national and global economy, becoming a meeting point of local and expatriate experiences, seeking an abundant future for a unique Syria.
History
SYEA was founded by the ministerial decree number 1503 dated 31 August 2002. It needed another year to start operations having to go through several phases of the licensing process. The official launch took place on 13 January 2003, in the presence of Her Excellency Mrs. Asma Al-Assad, and several distinguished local and international entrepreneurs.

The SYEA idea was born in February 2001, during a pan-Arab young entrepreneurs organizations meeting, where three attending Syrian entrepreneurs made a presentation to the group about their plan to set up a similar organization in Syria. A core group of six met in June 2001, and in February 2002 twelve Founding Fathers filed the application for the establishment of the Syrian Young Entrepreneurs Association, to be the first business-related NGO in the country.
